M&S Furniture Delivery

I just had a small piece of furniture delivered by M&S and was rather disappointed by the service.

I was told a couple of days ago that my slot time would be 3pm - 7pm but the driver would call on the day between 7am and 10am to give me a more precise time. I didn't get any call so phoned CS who said I was 13th on the list but couldn't give me a time.

They finally arrived just after 7pm but that's not my gripe - the delivery driver seemed to be in a foul mood and started spouting off about having to park so far down the cul-de-sac to get to my house. It wasn't my fault that he parked so far away, I've been having lots of things delivered recently and all the other drivers have reversed back until close to the house or simply parked on the drive. Apparently they're not allowed to park on people's driveway's incase they damage something but M&S didn't tell me this and they could easily have parked over the driveway instead.

I particularly disliked the comment about what a long day he'd had and it was 'thanks to people like me with awkward houses that he was running late.'

Not great M&S.

The driver does not even work for M&S. I think you need to get some perspective.

He was WORKING for M&S -

He introduced himself as 'Marks and Spencer delivery service', he had an M&S ID card and on the receipt M&S describe the drivers as 'trained delivery crew'.

The price of M&S furniture is supposed to include delivery by said trained crew as well as unpacking, positioning and assembling of the furniture, this wasn't just a normal courier service.

I don't know who the driver was actually employed by but he was certainly working for M&S.
  • Not great customer service. Sounds like he was having a bad day but not fair to take it out on you.
How rude was he? You could make a complaint to M&S and they would speak to him about it but do you think it was bad enough for you to want to do that?

I used to work in furniture after sales for M&S, when I was there it was Kuehne & Nagel delivering orders.

If you feel it was bad enough to warrant a complaint call M&S customer service they should inform the delivery company who should then deal with it... Note I say "should" :)
