Big fat gypsy weddings

I guess it's like any of the other reality tv shows - showing the most outrageous people for entertainment rather than the majority just going about their everyday lives.
Still, some of it didn't sit well with me.
I did however, love the dresses. They remind me of the creations I used to draw when I was little and drew princesses and brides.
Would I wear any of them? Errrrm no.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

well, i have to be honest and say that here in Kent I know of no travelling girl that would be permitted to dress in such a way! Irish travellers are different in their outlook, which these in the programme appear to be. I am interested to hear about your experience, it just goes to show how diffent communities are in different areas!! The girls do like their "bling", gold etc, and lacey bits for girls, and some outfits ARE over the top, as are some of our furnishing
but i can honestly say that ours truely would not be permitted to go out in the garments that the girls in the show wore in Lanzarote!!!
I live in Kent and went to school with a travelling girl. She did dress in skimpy clothes and my mum (who works in boots) did her wedding photos when she got married a number of years back. Her dress was just as big and extravagent as that shown on the show.
Incidentally the travellers that came to our school were of irish descent.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
Its true everyone should have there honest opinion on this show because if they were worried about negative comments they should not have taken part. On the grapevine from people in the Gypsy/traveller community the girls have all had there dresses paid for them by channel 4 hence them not caring if they look silly.
I think they are shown in the worst possible way and Thelma Nadine must be loving it because the dresses cost 3 or 4 times the cost of a normal wedding dress.
Working with the younger community has been an eye opener but its not normal for a man to judge a girl on her cooking and cleaning skills...and a girl to be grateful if she gets a loyal man that does not beat her or cheat.0 -
OMG  what a show! Never seen anything like, but enjoyed it in a guilty sort of way. Cant agree with how they live or their odd morals but loved they way they were effectively a big family that stick together. Something that i see missing these days.
And what a wedding dress! It was something id expect to see in a hip hop video (love the music but cant stand the videos, way 2 explicit for me lol). Was that dress maker for real? Dont know how she keeps a straight face, then again maybe shes just counting the money...
Look forward to the next show.0 -
She is laughing all the way to the bank....wish the young girls would get more of an education.0
