Barclays emergency cover.

Options
I have house insurance with Barclays.

This year I have also got emergency cover, this is an extra £71 per year, it says if I have a gas boiler problem they will fix it, besides other things like electric and plumbing problems, up to £1.600 per year
It seems a good deal seeing as british gas want quite a lot per month, just for the boiler.
Anyone else got this with barclays and had to claim, like a boiler problem.

Thanks.

  • If you have Barclays additions ( £10 per month fee) then this cover is included for "free" Check your account details before setting anything up.....

Check fine print.Think it says somewhere that the boiler should be under 15 years and in good service (thought i'm not sure how they check on the latter)

I guess you will need to show evidence of the last yearly boiler service should you require a repair.

I'm not sure about the word 'emergency'.Say you have some lights that work and some don't work, even after all your fuse box checks...Is that still an emergency?

Say there is a leak on your toilet pipe but you have stopped it.and the toilet is still flushing.Would they come out?

    Update...
I phoned them and spoke to someone(I have the name)This is what they said...
No we wouldn't require the last service receipt and we would come out if you have some lights and if you toilet had a small leak which you have been able to stem the flow.WOW!

I guess they would ask for a proper receipt if you require assistance.

Update...You will see from my post above..seems they don't need it.
  • Thanks all, for the replies.

My boiler is just under two years old, so no problems there.

They sent a booklet today explaining what is and what's not included. A broken window or tiles off the roof is not an emergency!!!!

A garage door that sticks on the bottom is!!!

I have never claimed on insurance of any kind yet, and am past retirement age.

Well, I will try it for a year, I only wish someone had claimed just to see.

    Thanks all.
