Insurance Void

Hi
I had an accident in my van, and hit the central reservation, no other cars involved. My insurance have informed me that my insurance is void as I have modifcation on the van, The highways have written me a letter stating that now I must pay them £7000 for the damages caused to the motorway, I contacted the highways and informed them that I did not have that sort of money and could pay them back by installments. The man on the phone said that they do not do that and my insurance should pay as I was insured at the time and that he would contact my insurance now my insurance have now stated that they will pay the highways but I must pay them, I am prepared to pay them but it doesnt really sound right and thought I would get advice.

What mods have you, and what did you declare?0

Your insurance should deal with the third party damage you have caused. Pass the highways letter to your insurance (unanswered).
(If your policy is voided, then they can come to you to reimburse them, and would accept payment by instalments)0 -
You insurance will pay for the damage then come after you.0
-
as above, they will pay under RTA (road traffic act) cover, and then come after you for the money.0
