Income protection and pregnancy

I wonder if anyone can help. I am currently 6 months pregnant and have had income protection insurance for a while now. My employer has informed me that within the next month or so the company will be closing down.
I may find it hard to get another job temporarily due to being 6 months pregnant, and my question is should my income protection insurance cover me whilst i am off having my baby? My insurance is with Barclays, but it doesnt mention anything about pregnancy and their is no helpline to call.
Thanks to anyone who can advise.

Hi,
Do you ASU (Accidental, Sickness and Unemployment insurance) or just AS?
Are you looking to claim under sickness or redundancy?
Normally, companies wont pay out on pregnancy as it is not counted as sickness.
It will totally depend on their T & Cs. I'm sure that there must be some number to call where you can discuss this.
How did you buy the insurance? Was it online?0 -
Thanks for that. It was just unemployment insurance I took out, i suppose they will have to pay out if im umemployed though regardless of whether im pregnant or not.
I also bought it online. I think i will have to call the claims number as see where i stand.
Thanks again0 -
They tend only to payout if you are actively job seeking0
