Holiday balance by credit card

Good afternoon all,
I have to pay the remaining balance of my holiday at the end of the month, the total remaining is £659.00.
I wasnt sure whether it is better to pay for this on the credit card, which incurs a 2.5% charge (£16+) or on my debit card which has no charge.
The reason I am usure is because as I understand there is more cover available to you if you purchase something on credit card, if something was to wrong.....i.e. last year with the volcanic ash problem.
It is a holiday under ATOL/ABTA protection thing, but I just wondered which way would be best to pay.
I must add I did pay the deposit on credit card, so does this make a difference.
We have the cash for the holiday so will be paying the card straight off, I am just thinking about a sort of financial protection should something go wrong.
Apologies if this should go in the Holidays section of the Forum.
Thanks guys.

If you have ATOL/ABTA protection then there is no point in paying extra for duplicating protection - which you have already as you have paid the deposit by CC which is enough anyway.
The protection the CC gives you is against the supplier failing to meet their obligations - not all encompassing insurance.0 -
Ah thank you. So as I paid the initial deposit by credit card I would be covered anyway?0

Well I have booked and paid with Direct Holidays (a part of Thomas Cook), this is what it says at the bottom of the paperwork;
Direct Holidays, Thomas Cook Tour Operations Limited, ABTA No V6896, ATOL 1179
I am therefore guessing they are one in the same?0 -
yes they are the same just different prices0
