Used this site to try and sell my old mobile phone. They gave me a price, sent me the envelope which i posted off and never paid me for my phone.
They claim they never recieved it and I should claim off Royal Mail. They said this happens a lot and the police are investigating. Yet, they refuse to give me any details of incident number of station it was reported to.
Not very happy. Is this a scam?

From Colin Armstrong-Bell, CEO of the Greener Solutions Group plc, owner of the Mobile2Cash brand:
I would like to respond to some of the comments made recently on this forum with regards to Proof of Postage when sending Mobile Phones to us.
Common to all mobile phone trade in sites, the risk of non-delivery of phone(s) by Royal Mail is sadly something outside of our control. At Mobile2Cash, we do our utmost to provide our customers with a first class service and include a Free “certificate of postage” in our welcome pack that allows customers to claim up to £32 from Royal Mail should the phone not arrive with us.
In such (rare) instances, we provide a pdf of the Royal Mail claim form to our customers. The claim is a simple process and a cheque is sent direct to the customer from Royal Mail, after we have confirmed to them that the phone did not arrive.
For phones of a higher value, we recommend Special Delivery which is paid for by the customer (around £5) but it does insure the phone(s) up to £500. Our terms & conditions, and welcome letter’s postal advice, makes this very clear.
I am always sad to learn that a customers phones have not arrived with us, but we do all that we can to help resolve missing phones, but we can only do so if customers have followed our advice and used the Free certificate of postage or (for phone(s) valued above £32) Special Delivery.
If you would like to contact me directly, I would be more than happy to hear any positive suggestions to refine our service to you. We are always keen to hear new positive ideas.

Hi Colin,
can I just ask if you've checked with the MSE Forum Team that it's OK for you to post on behalf of your company? You can contact them on [Removed by Forum Team].
This is just a policy Martin's put into place to protect everyone as we all know who's registered to speak on behalf of a particular company and they're genuinely here to help.
Thanks,

Wheely,
Did you send it Special Delivery or regular post? If I'm sending anything important, such as a phone or passport, I fork out the extra as then I get the added protection, such as a tracking number and the P58 claim form.
And, yes, I've had to put in a P58 to Royal Mail before because an item I sent was delayed by a day, and they said to submit one and I'd be refunded the SD cost.
HTH,

Dear MbW
Thanks for your question. Yes, we first requested and then received permission from [Removed by Forum Team] (ID #175907) to post a reply. I personally replied to the Forum mainly for the reason that customer care and satisfaction is of the highest importance to us, and it really is frustrating when someone sends a phone in good faith and then it gets lost in the post/does not arrive with us. This is actually a rare occurrence, but still something we take seriously by proactively guiding our customers through the best practice method of sending the phones to us (process mentioned in my last comment)
Regards,
Colin Armstrong-Bell
