I'm with Bgas on E7. My rates are, after the recent increase and including VAT, are 24p/kwh for 1st 720 kwh pa (equivalent to an £8pm standing charge), then 9.27p day rate and 4.37p night rate, with a £10 per quarter discount. That isn't a srandard tariff, but surely no one in their right mind keeps on a standard tariff do they? (The single non e7 day rate is verfy slightly cheaper, something like 0.02p iirc, but with a cheaper tier one rate).

£1200 for a 2 bed flat seems well ott to me.

While e7 heating will cost more than gas, there are big savings (both in cost and hassle) of having zero maintenance with storage heaters, yet faily big annual costs for gas heating.

If you intend to use your stiorage heaters, then there's pretty well no doubt whatsoever that you should be on an e7 tariff, if your usage is not completely abnormal. Make sure all your heating is done at nightime rates, and try not to be tempted to use any daytime topup heating - with modern storage heaters correctly sized, they should store all the heat necessary to keep warm 24/7 (except in the severe freezing conditions we've recently experienced, when a topup may be likely).

£1000 - £1200 OTT? It all depends on in which region you live

    My son's Flat
Eastern Region - 2 bed flat with ECO 7 meter feeding 5 storage rads & Hot water cylinder
Eon V5 online tariff, after accounting for all discounts and VAT
    Tier 1 23.73p
    Tier 2 11.84p
    Night 3.62p
Annual use: 2644Kw DAY - 17509 NIGHT = Annual Cost £1044 and that is a reduction of over £100 after I nagged him about turning everything off as he left for work
