JSA when does it go into your account?

Hi, I signed on for the very first time yesterday. I was just wondering when does the money usually go into your bank account? thanks

If yesterday was your first signing, I am afraid that you will have a few weeks or more before it goes into your account.

Your claim has only just started and it takes weeks for the first payment.

In my experience they are not that slow. If you "need" the money immediately then apply for a crisis loan repayable from benefits. The first few days after registering for JSA you are not entitled to anything then JSA is paid in arrears so you need to have been unemployed for a bit longer than 2 weeks to get a full payment. It takes 3 maybe at most 4 days for the payment to clear into your bank account.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    Hi, thanks for your replies.
I started my claim from the 6TH Jan.
I've had some interviews since then and got my book.. then I signed on yesterday, so does that still mean it will be a few weeks?
Or in this case have I already waited and been accepted and now due money in say 3 or 4 days?

Have you had the letter from the Benefit Delivery Centre to tell you how much they'll pay you ?
I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.
  • When I recently applied i did not receive a payment until my second signing as JA is paid fortnightly in arrears. As someone else said, if you are in need then you may apply for a crisis loan. This can be done over the phone and can take up to 30 minutes but you do receive an instant decision.
