Have a look at the Scroll tablet from Storage Options.
It's £130/£140, and if your expectations are reasonable, it's perfectly fine.
Is it the best? I doubt it. It's hard to try all of them.0 -
Be aware that sub £200 tablets are almost certain to use resistive rather than capacitive touch screens. Resistive screens are less responsive (they work best with a stylus) and don't do multi-touch gestures very well, if at all. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Best of luck, for whats its worth I would have thought a netbook would be more practical, and available for your budget.
Bet to wait for a few months for any half decent tablets to come out that rival the ipad.
BTW Android was developed for mobile phones and is very clunky on tablets, dunno when 3.0 will be available. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I had chance to use my father's new Ipad on Saturday, alongside the cheapy tablet I mention above....
Bet to wait for a few months for any half decent tablets to come out that rival the ipad.
And you know what? Yes, the ipad is quicker to boot, and a bit more responsive....but the difference is not as much as you might imagine.
It's okay reading specs on websites, but there is no substitute for trying these things.
I think when the decent android tablets surface in a few months time, they will be in the 250+ price bracket.0 -
look at the archos 70 internet tablet and you can install quick office for free and it will open microsoft office documents.

Many thanks to all that have replied, I have tried to talk her into a netbook, but her heart is set on a tablet. Will look into both the Scroll and the archos.
Thanks again0 -
Hi there
If I was you I would wait a few more weeks as the Chinese are still in holiday mode post new year celebrations. The tablet that I have bought is a Samsung Galaxy Tablet innerds wrapped in a 7 inch capacitive screen (Multi touch).
The videos talk about it being called a dropad a8 or herotab c8, anyway this is the first real sub 200 pound tablet that is faster than the Apple Ipad (ipad256 ram vs 512 on this).
The screen resolution is the same as the dell streak.
I cannot post the link but it is called Apad M7009 and the cheapest I have seen it is 136 at china-tablet-pc.com0 -
