Hi - your medical issues noted in your signature will not be helped by a diet of spaghetti and waffles for the 2 weeks, as proposed in your post. You need at least some protein/ veg etc. Many homeless/ christian charities are sitting on surplus tins of food that were given to them in harvest festivals and over christmas. There are also foodbanks across the UK who give tins of food etc. I would definitely ring around to see whether they could help you for the next two weeks by giving you some tins of veg, fruit salad, baked beans, corned beef etc. You could make a committment to help out in the future, or make a donation when your income can manage it, as a gesture of thanks.0

hi londonboy
thanks for posting,
I've just done quick inventory of fridge (3month old rotting cucumber anyone!! yuk), freezer (got half freezer and a 4 drawer one which i just switched off as no need for it to be running if nowt in it) and cupboards.
There's stuff in to eat, like tinned veg, plenty of pasta etc .. just going to have to start using it up0 -
Make a meal plan for the week on what's in the cupboards already, you might find you don't need to get anything else in - eg pasta and veg is better for you then tinned spaghetti and waffles for a week. Also can the cats not go on biscuits for a week? You are spending more on their food then yours. When I lost my job my cat had to go on biccies - she sulked for a few days but sometimes needs must!0

Im not sure of your living situation but last year we got an old sack filled it full of soil and chucked in some potato seeds. In no time at all we had 3 weeks worth of potatoes. Thats a great way to save money on food. In the meantime get that stuff on ebay and packet past, tin of tomatoes, your veg and thats a meal.Egg April 10 £6600 Jan £4678 now £0

Also I would recommend switching your cats onto dried food - read the tins ingredients - 80% WATER!!!!! Go cat is pretty good and you can buy it in small amounts up to big sacks, depending on your money at the time. My cats wailed for about 2 days, then were fine, and they have never been healthier with glossy coats and everything :-)0

Hi Joeblack066! I was thinking of putting my 3 kitties on dried food only too. They are costing me a small fortune every month! I don't want them suffering though. Any advice? My LBM - December 2010!

I have 2 cats.
Old cat is old, thyroid problems, renal failure, arthiritis, will only eat a small amount of biscuits at a time (10g or less) hence must be on wet food and tablets get put on to wet food for her.
Boy cat has to have mostly wet food due to suffering a severe bladder infection and us nearly losing him.
I have downgraded their food and they are on tesco cheap single serve tins which are 19p each. The £3.99 was for 21 tins which will last them one week. If you can find me small tins cheaper than that .. AND .. that my old cat will happily take her medication with .. I'll buy it providing I can get to whichever shop they are from.
That's enough about the cats.
I was actually posting to get advice on the juggling money around to make it spread across the two weeks but that seems to have gone way over people's heads. I didn't realise I'd posted in the Pets section.0 -
It's not gone over people's heads, they're just pointing out the obvious, that it's unsustainable to spend so much on the cats when you don't earn enough to be able to afford it. You're juggling with half of the already limited money you have available.I was actually posting to get advice on the juggling money around to make it spread across the two weeks but that seems to have gone way over people's heads.poppy100
