That's a bit overdramatic. You could try giving them away to a cat's shelter, or to friends/family if you want to ensure they go to a loving home. Or, if they are as old and ill as you say, perhaps its kinder on them to put them out of their misery. Or just switch to cheaper cat food. There's lots of options, no-one's suggesting you starve them to death.

I don't think that's a very sensible post is it? People are trying to help you here

Are we still in the Pets section ?

I've already said that I have downgraded them totally to the cheapest food.

It would not be fair on the cat to give a 20+ year old cat to friends or family .. And it would be even more unkind to give her to one of the already struggling rescue centres.

Why should she be put down just because money is a tiny bit tight for 2 weeks ? She's living a perfectly happy life at the moment.

***Sorry for going off topic I didn't mean to be rude***

I think some people don't realise that not everyone sees pets a disposable accessories. Once they are part of the family you have to factor in their living costs.

cally - the spend on the cats is included - you are aware of what you need and how much to get you what you need. Sorry, when is payday again?

    Right, back on topic...

Have you been over to the old style board yet with a list of what you have in your cupboards? They should be able to help you meal plan until you get some more money

Do you have anything large that you could put on ebay on a 3 day listing stating collection only?

    Thanks . :T
  • Can you speak to Barclays about all of this. You are going to incur a massive £66 in fees in the next 2 weeks as you stand. Is there no scope to extend the o/draft by £500 for 2/3 weeks until you are paid?

Off topic really but our cat was very ill, throwing up every day, took her to the vet- blood tests ultra sound and £300.00 later vet diagnosed polycystic kidney disease cat is very ill and will only survive next 6 months if we feed her presciption cat food £1.50 per tin and give her v.expensive tabs and and Zantac every day. So we tried this and she did not seem to improve. We then took her to our normal vet when we went home at the weekend she agreed with the previous vet but suggested we need not keep using the expensive food if she keeps throwing up. Previously we had been feeding her with every type of high end dry food. IAMS Dr Science? James Well Beloved. Any way we had run out of this and it was late, all I could get from the CO-op was Go-Cat. She loved that and stopped throwing up in 3 days- in the last 15 months she has trebled her weight and is now on the verge of being over weight. The vet was genuinely shocked to see her when we took her for her annual booster.

Go-cat dead cheap and it does not smell in the summer if I leave it out too long.

Go-cat food stops old cat chucking up as well plus the indoor version is only flipping biscuits she will eat. Our vets get told straight as soon as they mention hills and prescription diet, we cant afford it so dont even try.

Londonboy - I've been in and in and in umpteen times over past few years and they just wont budge. They are making money from me so they're not prepared to help me out. Hence getting the hsbc basic account, no overdraft on it and in view to getting direct debits changed over to it so I can start getting the barclays one under control more.
