House Insurance - will my premiums increase if I claim?

Hi there
I have not made a claim on my house insurance for over 5 years, but hubby has just dropped his drill when trying to repair the extractor fan and cracked the shower tray.
I have accidental damage cover so I guess I can claim.
Does anyone know the likely effect on my premiums if we do claim? I always shop around each year at renewal and get the best price.
If anyone has experience of similar, I'd be interested to know.

Had my first claim for many years and Saga told me that one claim would not affect my premium.0

Mine actually had a no claims bonus on it which I didn't realise (buildings & contents) so my renewal did go up. By about £30 though so it was still worth me claiming. May be worth checking.

According to broker was still the cheapest even with losing the no claims but I must admit I didn't cross check online this time as I wasn't sure how changing insurers would work mid claim.
(mine's a car port though - see thread below)I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0 -
Insurers like Direct Line and Tesco etc just ask if you've made more than 2 claims in the past three years. If you haven't, then they don't probe anymore and you'll get the same deals as someone who's not made any claims."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
