If you choose to take a break in Scotland, DO NOT book accommodation through VisitScotland! In addition to charging you a booking fee, they keep a 10% deposit (they won't admit that it is a commission) from the rate quoted. As a result, the accommodation providers regularly bump up the rates charged via VisitScotland. Always go direct to the accommodation provider - you will always get the best rate that way.
Rant aside - do visit Scotland. The cities are OK but the countryside is unbeatable. Slainte! :beer:0 -
