M&S often have a special meal deal on for valentines day which includes the wine - I think it was £20 last year but might be cheaper than buying lots of seperate ingredients to cook!!MFW 2011 challenge - Aim: Overpay £414.26 a month/£5,000 a year. Hi, this is my first time posting on the money saving forum, although I have been looking at this website for over a year and following lots of tips and ideas. I had a really thoughtful gift from my husband at christmas this year, which could easily be adapted for valentines day - he sent me a voucher for a day in the city with a personal shopper. Don't panic we are credit crunched too - when reading the small print it was a handmade gift and he had contacted my most fasionable friend and agreed to look after her kids for an afternoon, whi;st we spent the day in town. It did cost him a pair of boots and lunch mind you!! You could do something similar for your other half.0

Poundland have disposable table cloths...pack of 5 for the usual price
you can also buy Gu chocolate ganache for a "special" dessert... the little pot of ganache can be warmed in the microwave for about half a minute to make it go runny, then it makes a tasty body paint... well so I was told anyway, wouldn't know, hehe!!Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

We like chilli with all the trimmings (sour cream, salsa, guacamole, grated cheese, jalapenos, tortillas etc), along with a nice bottle of red.0

Slow cooked rump of lamb (£7 in Sainsburys for Taste The Difference) plus some veg & potato thrown in. Leave for 5 hours & there you go

Pretty much ditto everything else that has been said above, dotting tons and tons of tea lights all around the kitchen is a gorgeous idea, it'll really set the atmosphere right!
And maybe hit poundland for any wee bits if you fancy, I think they might have any extra things to hang up...or wear

Tealights are a lovely inexpensive way to set the mood - I pop them in ramekins and glass dishes I've saved from posh puddings.
As for nice cheap meals - might be a good idea to go round the local supermarket the evening before valentines for reduced stuff. Fish/shellfish starters are nice and light but can be picked up for a fraction of the price when reduced (i'm thinking things like Coquille St jacques).
Maybe a stir fry for the main as that would be light and tasty (and avoid some of the embarrasing side effects of chilli and spag bol!).2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0
