Washer Dryer (Hotpoint WDL520P)- any good?

Is this any good as a washing machine? Ours is on its last leg and with the built in dryer could come in handy.

Or are these dual washers and dryer no good?

Tesco £350
Comet £380

Best Buy (online) £299 but Quidco 20% cash back = £240

Comet online customer reviews (not very good):
Due to a terrible design error this product has no lint tray, which causes the drainage pump to clog, stopping the machine from draining and resulting in a very wet floor.
Having owned this product for 13 months i have to call out an engineer for a second time to rectify the same problem which in most systems is cured by a tray!

not very happy with washer/dryer hotpoint
wdl520p when i try to dry washing it lets in cold water and when cycle finised
clothes still wet but warm i have tried phoning hotpoint but could not get thru after being on hold for 15 mins
could you please tell me why cold water
comes into machine on drying cycle as there
is no mention of this in hand book

Reevoo (not heard of it, but a link from Best Buys) has Reviews of Hotpoint WDL520P Washer Dryer
    8.1 out of 10 review

    range of interesting reviews.

Basically need a washing machine which I've not budgeted for, and then got an email from Quidco saying Best Buy has 20% cash back, then I saw this Washer Dryer.

So do i go with just a washing machine or a washer dryer which could be handy, but don't want this model if no good.
  • I've had an Ariston washer dryer for 5 years now and the dryer has packed up 3 times in that period. Washes great, but dryer element constantly fails so just don't bother with it now.

BTW..Hotpoint/Ariston/Creda/Indesit are all part of the same company now so parts will be shared between machines!

    Stick with just a washer..

My mum has a Hotpoint washer/dryer and the drum is small. She was told by a washing machine repairman she knows never to buy a washer/dryer but she did anyway. Personally I wouldn't buy one.

I have a Whirlpool washer/dryer and I hate it so much!! Everytime I put it on to dry it washes the clothes again!! So frustrating!
I have now bought a small tumble dryer that sits in my small hall cupboard, sorted!! :D

thanks, think that concludes it for me and good enough for me.

shame Best Buy 20% quidco cashback ends tonight, as doesn't give me much time to look.

which washer would you get on the lower end of budget scale? places like comet, dixons, or best buy?
  • I had a hotpoint washer/dryer on the recommendation from my sister (unfortunately I didn't realise she had only bought it a few weeks earlier so hadn't used it much). It was the worse purchase I have ever made!

Washer/Dryers are known to be unreliable anyway but both mine and my sisters machines were unbelieveable. Had the engineer out regularly (every month or so). Never again! Both machines seemed to develop the same faults so we could predict what would happen with each others machine :rotfl:

I now have a Miele which I love but they are expensive.

I have heard good things regarding Bosch and noticed there was a deal on yesterday on the Grabbit Boards

Have a look around to see whether this is a bargain but I think it's a fair price for a Bosch and will last a lot longer than a Hotpoint washer/dryer.

I don't rate washer/dryers anyway as I found they creased my clothes in a bad way, meaning more ironing! I now have a compact tumble dryer in my conservatory for bad weather days.

    Hope this helps!

    Take Care x

You can sometimes get a bargain here. You have to bid on them but a lot of time they only have a dent or something on them.
