feb 2010 i had a car crash and have been off sick ever since. been diagnosed with fibromyalsgia and chronic fatique finding it difiicult to accept but anyway in pain but keep thinking tomorrow will be ok as have always worked.
i had 2 jobs prior to this - nurse training and a paid carer. stopped receiving pay when sick pay ran out for cares job.
hubby went down to 3 days to care for me. also my son was in car with me as just taken out of school - possible autism/aspergers awaiting diagnosis.
still fighting dla/esa so have not had any benefits as had not paid ni contributions as it was year i started student nursing.
i am so tired of fighting all these benefits to try and get a few more quid to live on.
we have no car as could not afford to get another after accident as £1500 we got we have spent on living past year. admittedly there is an insurance claim but that could takes years.
giving up our house as cannot afford mortgage and job centre woman said best option was to move in council rented then could get hsb.
tired of fighting are ther any benefits we could get., hubby works for nhs adn was wondering if taking vol. redundancy as would be better off on befits.
i am tireed in pain an stressed and don;t want to fight anymore.
any ideas would it be worth trying jsa seen as cant get dla, cant seee me holding downn a job wiht pain and fatigue but we just don;t have enough to live on.
help..........:(:(:(:(

I appreciate you are clearly feeling down - but is your husband leaving his job really a good idea??? Having the entire family claiming benefits is not going to help your depression.0

I get where you are, it's a horrid place. The feeling so tired, and the pain and nothing visiually to link it to, so people assume your just lazy. (ignore them)
right now you need to stop worrying, let hubby do that for now, it's not doing you any good, concentrate on yourself, once you have that under control you will be able to see things clearly. It's taken me just under 2 years to accept there was something genuinely wrong with me, and the emotions that run with it can be terrifying.
Get onto your local social services and ask for (now this is where my MS kicks in and i can't remeber the names) a home visit by a occupational therapist (had to really sit and think of that one) once you are on that, you will start getting help in the home. Direct Payments for getting a carer in to help you if you need help in the home. This will take the pressure off hubby.
Find out if you have a DIAL in your area, these people are fantastic, when i was first dx with fibromyalgia i was seen by these people who gave me a walking stick and told me what i needed, i got a wheelchar via nhs through dial, these people are your friends, they can help you with your benefits too, making sure you apply for the right ones and support you through them.
I know how you feel about fighting for your benefits, just when i was starting to settle i have an esa Atos medical to do this Thursday, have a feeling i will be found fit for work and the stress that is causing me right now is unbelevable, and then in March time i have my DLA renewal paperwork due so i will be going through it all again
but it has to be done.
Hang in there, don't give up, get the support to help your family through this.

thanks for your support,.
i don;t mean to sound depressed i am angry more than anything.
wew have been self employed fro last 15 yrs and supported ourselves and 3 kids and now we need something bacvk from the sytem there isn;t anything.
i don;t want to sound like a benefit grabbing so and so i use to have 2 jobs and worlked 58 hours per week but it annoys we when you see others getting all these benefits dla etc who have never worked etc . we would have been better off if i had neer worked when having kids but i always have and its suited us being self emploiyed.
i think hubby would go mad as well as he is a clever guy who likes to use his brain.
i think the final nail in the coffin will be losing the house and cant; beleive it will get to this.
in fact i feel positive as once we get to bottom the only way is up.
have applied for council house today so fingers crossed. adn i like using buses after teh snow this year i couldn't image driving as i also suffer ptsd from crash.
thanks again guys you are a great help to everyone.

So, as self employed you didn't pay yourself the NMW and the rest in dividends then?0

Go to your local citizen advice bureau and ask for a benefits check. They can also do "what if" calculations ie if I husband leaves work would we be better off.0

I had a car accident 6 months ago, i'm a qualified nurse and am now dropping to no pay due to a shoulder injury and inability to work due to poor mobility with it and chronic pain. The DWP will give me £65 a week to live off and other than that i am stuck... i can't claim council tax stuff as my pay slips are a month out and so won't get anything off that for another couple of months and i can just see the debts accruing...
I live on my own and in my own place and desperately don't want to have to move or change to a council place and am unsure as to where i will go from here or if i will ever be able to work. 5mins of typing kills my shoulder, and i struggle through the day with even some of the most basic of tasks so wouldn't even know what job i can do... i have always been so active and this car accident has completely destroyed my life, my relationship and now my career appears to be finishing....
Any advice on anything i can do to help me financially would be great as i don't want to end up in debt too. They wonder why people start getting depression after things like this, well i have to say although i'm ok, the future's sadly looking pretty bleak

Thanks for reading and hopefully we will all get through this!!
