Do supermarkets replace bags for life for free?

My Tesco only replaces the plastic bags for life but refused to swop the thicker ones.0

A "bag for life" is the standard 10p Plastic one. Most supermarkets (and a few other shops too) these days offer their own versions. Other shopping bags aren't part of the scheme.
I like it when you get one with a really nice picture on lolUnfortunately like the poster above with the milk, mine got covered in fruit smoothie so need replacing.

As far as i know they do replace although we havent tested it yet as we have various bags for life from various supermarkets eg iceland(first ones we had) sainsburys, tescos, lidl, aldi0
