Can you recommend an investment fund

As some of you will know I like to invest in property abroad, but now I seek a fund.

I have not been able to find one that specifically invests in new / cheap property markets such as Germany, the Baltic states or Africa.

I have already bought shares in property companies investing in German real estate, but this time I would like a fund.

I found several investing in Germany but they are for institutional or high net worth investors only.

I have also found some big name UK funds but they are heavily weighted into UK property which for me is a big no no as I like to BUY LOW, SELL HIGH (as opposed to buy high just because its familiar, and hope it goes higher)

Of course, we can give no investment advice....

    SWIP European real estate fund
    Fidelity Global Property
    Schroder Global Property
    Premier Pan European Property

Thats a few on the UT/OEIC/SICAV front. NU are about to launch a Euro property fund to be managed by Morley and their UK version is very highly regarded.

A thing to note is that most of these funds seem to be increasing or totally investing in property shares or REITs. Property shares may not be consistent with what you are looking for.

    Cheers for that.

I'll look into all of these.
The NU one sounds promising, whereas I have a feeling the others might be too weighted in the 'old world' property markets for me (investing in already booming markets such as UK and US so not enough upside as they say on Dragons Den)
  • Japan's property looks good too ;)

Can you give me the name of a property fund for Japan?

Ive had a look at the 3 established funds mentioned by Dunston but they seem heavily weighted towars tired old US /UK markets just as Id feared.
Scroders appears the most attractive to me as it had no UK weighting although 35% in the US is probably no good for me, afterall many states are showing declining prices.

The new one with NU I cant get any info on so let me know if anyone finds out when its launched.

    Update:

I found a highly respected property comany 'Kenmore' of Edinburgh. They are an established company that average 39% annual returns NOW MOVING INTO GERMANY AND OTHER EUROPEAN REAL ESTATE, so perfect for me.

I like the fact they have a spread accross Europe, are very cautious yet have a spectacular record.

Ok, not a fund but a share in a property company.

    Thier EPIC is keif.1

Although I like buying actual property this is a highly attractive and liquid asset which gives me exposure to the European property market.

In case anyone elsehas an interest in German / European real estate, 2 other stocks Ive bought are:

    1) Speymill Deutsche

    2) Dawnay Day Treveria
  • for property funds look under REIT's ;)

I hear theres a new issue of a Japanese REIT in the UK this month

Neptune Greater Russia fund may be worth a look.

Although that's not a property fund...

M&G are launching a Euro Property (bricks and mortar) fund.

    Thx for those.

The M & G Euro property fund is well worth considering.
