Halifax Refuse to Refund Fraud

My mother in law had two payments taken out her account by debit card recently. They were both (one sixty odd quid and one only two quid) to what's turned out to be a !!!!!! site based in, of all places, Haslemere. The name of the payment is deliberately explicit to seemingly put off reporting to the bank.
Suffice to say she didn't authorise the payments nor had she knowingly visited the website although it's possible her laptop had a virus of some sort.
Her letter from the bank's fraud department says she must take up the matter with the company as she has, according to them, consented to the payments. This is rubbish but she doesn't know how to press Halifax further.
What should she say as she has no desire, nor should she need to, deal with this company?

That said, my experience of such situations (never a !!!!!! site mind) is that the person committing the fraud is often related to the account holder or has access to the account holder (e.g. friend or carer).
It might be worth mentioning to anybody fitting that description that she is going to have to involve the police. It may get a response.0 -
