More likely that any recipient of such a letter will be mortified to receive it. And that you'll be considered a bit funny peculiar for even sending it.
I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.
  • I think it's a great idea!

When I worked for a City Council, several members of the public wrote and praised the way I had dealt with them. My line manager had a special file for 'compliments' letters. We were always very pleased to receive recognition in this way.

Go for it, send a letter to the person themselves if you know who they are, otherwise to the manager of the Department.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • i get what you are saying but i can;t make my mind up if you are sincere.

you keep banging on about being honest etc etc etc but why not just get on with your life now if you have solved your little problem and stop hogging the lime light so people like me who have real money worries can get a bit of advice.

why do you need to come on here all the time telling the same old same old get a life or move on.

i was in a car crash last feb lost my 2 jobs, my hubby went down to 3 days to care for me. i have battled to get dla for myself since then and cannot get esa as i am not considered disabled enough or have not save enough contributions.

so basiscally we are living on povery line my hubby earns about 11-12,000 slightly over so we have no other beenfits except tax credits and becaause we have a morgage could not get hsa etc.

so we have been left with no option (did i mnetion we cant afford to pay mortgage as have 3 kids to keep and no car since accodent as cant afford to buy another. we will now have to leave are house and are trying to apply for conuncil housing.

so forgive me for being bitter at moment but if you aer sincere move on and leave lines open for someone else to have a turn.

    best wishes.

Why not wait and see what happens next?
I doubt the situation would have been fully handled then and their, the info will probably be passed onto a decision maker, and then if they decide to, they could be sending out further letters etc.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that
