Can anyone tell me whether there is any company which operates a travel policy which pays out to enable you to travel to Australia to see close/elderly relatives who suffer a medical emergency such as a stroke or heart attack....?

I doubt that this would be possible. You are asking a company to pay out for an event that has already happened. Or have I read your post correctly? Though don't atheletes, professional sports people and many others have similar policies that protect loss of earnings to venues/events. I can't imagine any such policy being cheap enough .for us lesser mortals to afford one.0

You need to talk to an insurance broker, but the policy will depend on the health of your relative, if they are seriously ill already then the chances of paying out are almost 100% so the premium won't be much less than the cost of the flight0

Which way round are you asking the question?
It sounds as though you want something that will pay you to travel to Australia when and if your relative's health warrants it. That's not really travel insurance - more like life insurance or critical illness on your relatives' lives. I'm sure it will be available - at a price - from a specialist broker, but don't underestimate the problems of organising it from this end. They will most probably want a detailed medical report which may not be easy to get.0 -
Thx for replies - my mother emigrated to Oz in 1995 and I was sure that there was a travel company at that time which you could pay into in the event of the emigre becoming ill so that you could travel out to be with them. I may have got this completely wrong but all info is helpful.
I am looking to be prepared for any future event as she is now 88 this year.0
