Ridiculous delay in lodgement for Halifax accounts paid over counter in Post office

(e) post your cheque to a Halifax branch
So in reality, if you used special delivery, then the cheque would be in the bank just one day later than if you drove to your branch, parked, walked to the bank, queued in your branch, deposited the cheque, walked back to your car and drove home again??
Well worth it to me.

Special delivery is a little OTT ..... just send it First Class. It's delivered at the same time and perversely gets priority. As Special Delivery normally requires 2 x people to open - at most financial institutions - in the event it contains cash.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

Yes, i was making that point for the O/P that they could avail of the full counter service of their Halifax branch with only one days delay by using special delivery postage. First class would take maybe a day longer and you could pop it into your nearest post box.
This thread is a prime example of how instead of complaining about something it maybe just takes thinking outside the box a little to come up with a solution

Special delivery = one day
First Class = one day
No difference?0 -
And a number of financial institutions offer pre-addressed (even pre-paid) envelopes if you want to post cheques directly to them..

I have an account with Leeds Building Society that provides free 1st class pre-paid addressed envelopes for depositing cheques.
I know Sainsburys Bank used to provide pre-paid envelopes for their accounts but have stopped them recently as far as I know.
I'm sure there are probably other banks or building societies that provide envelopes.0 -

First class is moreoften 2 days, and you have no evidence that the item arrived.
So quite a bit of difference
My point was relating to the convenience aspect of being able to do that - as opposed to a debate over whice postal service.0 -
Why??
We expect our banks to be profitable and protect our money and yet when they take evasive action to remain bouyant then thats a problem.
At the absolute peak of the banking crisis we had very significant sums in several Halifax accounts and fortunately that was protected by a government intervention. We are also shareholders in the HBOS group and my wife is an ex employee. Now to make the bank viable again and to protect individuals savings in the future they have had to make various cutbacks at many levels.
Are you really saying unviable branches that are sapping profits should be kept open just for the convenience of local people on the off chance they need to lodge a cheque?
Are you? You're the only one then.
It's Lloyds Banking Group now! LOL! 0 -

smile offer post office access.
Cash deposits are credited instantly - showing online and at cash machines straight away.
Cheques can be sent to a freepost address or via the post office, and are usually credited in a few working days.
I value post office access. Santander completely messed up what was left of Girobank.
If you rely on the post office, chose a bank that takes post office access seriously. Exercise your consumer choice.0
