Is this correct and also do you get this before the baby is even born?
Thanks
No probs.
Without my fiancee working this is what we get instead:
Statutory Maternity Pay - £541.75 per month (you get more than that in the first 6 weeks of SMP, as she will get 90% of her pay... if 90% of her pay is less than SMP, they will pay her the standard SMP rate)
Child Tax Credit = £94.86 per month
Child Benefit = £81.20 per month
Hope this helps.
We have decided to bite the bullet and take the 3 months unpaid maternity leave, so she can have some more time with our daughter as we feel this is important. Its going to be tough, as there isnt going to be much left at the end of the month at all. Id love to earn enough for mum to be able to be off to look after our little one, but she will need to head back to work to help out.
She has a right to ask her employer to seriously consider part time work when she goes back. We are hoping for 2 or 3 full days work, then she can have rest of week off with our little one.
Working from home i will have to change my work hours along with a helpful nanny to help cover care for little one.
I know what you are going through, so hope this advice helps as i know its a jungle of information out there.0 -

So you actually get it before the baby is born? So if I was only working getting paid £25k and she was on maternity getting SMP I guess we would get the same too. I didnt realise you could get benefits and tax credits pre-birth.0 -
The SMP can be paid before the baby is born, depends on when your gf/wife wants to take her leave from work. You dont get the other benefits until the baby has been born and registered.0
