Budgeting loan/social fund?

Hi

Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice! Ive recently moved into an unfurnished private let flat and was wondering what I would apply for to get help towards getting a bed, and some furniture etc. Im currently on longterm incapacity benefit.

Thanks

  • Do you get any other benefits?
Have you tried freecycle or local charities?
  • Incapacity Benefit is not a qualifying benefit for a budgeting loan. So unless you have been receiving income support as a top up to your incapacity benefit, you won't qualify for a budgeting loan.

AsknAnswer2 is right. You don't qualify for a budgeting loan.

You might qualify for a crisis loan for a bed, bedding & for a cooker. Perhaps a fridge too, if you need to store medicines in a fridge. But it's a big might, all depends on your health & whether the crisis loan office thinks there's a serious risk to your health and safety if you don't have those items. Crisis loans won't help with furniture so freecycle, charity shops etc might be a great help.
