Are the lidl, plants and seeds good? I've seen the fruit trees and bushes in at various times, and always wondered how successful they would be at the price, does anyone have any experience of them?

I found the seeds to be pretty poor last year. Very bad germination rates. You can get much better from some of the cheap online seed sellers.

The seeds I found OK but fruit trees / bushes were really just sticks and died IME

Plus the trees do not state what rootstock is, so you are not able to judge if suitable for your conditions, same applies to likes of Wilkinson's and possibly Morrison's

I think, unless you have loads of space, you would be better buying good, named, fruit tree from a well known fruit tree supplier or local nursery [not DIY shed], not a cheap option but given tree is possibly for life then maybe a wiser option

My "Golden Delicious" is not that, it is a nice apple, but I had to wait a couple of years to find out is was mislabeled
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

space isn't a prob, I've got 3 acres of derelict farmstead that's not been worked on over 20 yrs!!!
  • I used Lidl seeds last year, and had pretty good success rates - fab lettuce and squashes among others.

The lidl seeds were great last year! Perfect in fact! Although they aren't named varieties as such they do the job and at 29p a packet (as it was last year) you can't go wrong!

They've got some seeds advertised for the 27th - they're at the bottom of the 'Clean Up' page.
Small seeds 29p, large seeds 49p, seed collections, tape or discs £1.49.
