Tax refund advice
Hello I am new on here so hi to you all.
Just a quick question: I was clearing out some paperwork, and came across an uncashed cheque for £70 for road tax refund, that i got from DVLA, dated May 2008.
I totally forgot about it, and what can I do?
Can I request a replacement or is it too late, and I have lost this money, I have sent DVLA an e-mail but had no response, so thought I would ask what to do on here.
It is fully intact and still attached to the remittance advice note.
thanks and any advice would be greatfully appreciated.

You will just have to wait for a response to your email. If you dont get one in say seven days, then write to them enclosing a copy of the cheque and remittance advice.
I dont see why you shouldnt get it replaced to be honest. They still have your money.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Can you not just bank it? I know postal orders have cash by dates but not cheques.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I think its about 6 months for cheques, from the issue date.
Mind, you could try and see if the bank spots it,make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I am ex DVLA. The tax refund cheques used to be bankable for up to 6months. After that the banks won't process them.
If you write to DVLA enclosing the cheque (take a copy for yourself first) explaining then they will re-issue a replacement
