I would say that the charge was more than reasonable, taling into consideration his overheads. with technology as it is these days you were paying for the guys knowledge.
At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.

To be fair to red devil they probably thought it was a problem with their computer and not their isp, sometimes it can be difficult to confirm where the problem lies especially if you are a novice with computers.

The £35 would need to cover the engineers time and travel, okay he only took 2 minutes to solve the problem but you have to include his travel/transport time as well so not as steep as you first thought.

If you have any techie problems just come amd ask on the boards, you may not have been able to with this recent problem especially if you had no access to any other computer but help is always here for free.

thanks i did think of that but as you say without internet access it was hard to get advice?

Why did you not ring Orange?

I know they are fairly useless as an ISP, but they should have been able to help you.

Or even post here for some pointers to diagnose the problem yourself.... our rates are very reasonable and payment is accepted in 'thanks' button clicks :p
