Hi there,
A few weeks back I accidently tapped into a car behind me. I phoned Asda to let them know about the incident and they made a note of it.
A week ago I part exchanged my car and found cheaper insurance elsewhere, however asda insurance told me that my no claims discount was effected by the incident reported.
I'd like to know if this is possible? How can an incident that did not result in a claim effect my NCD?

ASDA are not an insurer, they are a brand - the insurance for the ASDA brand is sold by a large broker called BDML.
You need to discuss this with your insurer - will be on your policy documents. You notified them of a potential claim so they will have opened a claim file. This will still be open in case a third party claims in the future - OR maybe a third party has claimed direct from your insurer.
If no claim was actualy made by the third party, and there is no damage to your car, then ask them to close the claim as non-prejudicial: it will be on your record as a fault incident and you will need to declare it when shopping arround, but if no actual claim was made then NCD should not be affected.0
