I am trying to make a table that calculates profit but want to use a rule that it only does this if one column says win

eg bet £x win £y accumulative total would be z

or bet £x lose £y accumulative total would be z

Can anyone help?

=IF(B1="","",if(B1="win",formula for win,formula for loss))

Assuming the win/lose text is entered in cell B1. Replace the words "formula for win" and "formula for loss" with the relevant calculations you want it to perform.

The initial IF statement will allow it to ignore blank cells where the result is unknown.

Take a look at the IF function, or perhaps SUMIF. It depends on exactly what you're trying to do.

G8 = the field containing win or lose, H8 is the £ win/lose amount,
IF(G8="win",H8,-H8)
