Post Office Online Stamp Ordering

 As I'm pretty much housebound I ordered stamps online on the 4th January (couldn't do phone ordering as it was their bank holiday still).
They took the £21 from my account on the 4th - but still not had them and its now the 17th!! Site said to allow 7-10 days but I thought it would be quicker - as usually quite good when you kphone order.
Phoned on Friday but computers down so they couldn't look anything up - then I emailed to have a standard reply that they will reply properly within 7-10days.
So still not here this morning so rang again - to be told I might get them by the end of the week - which will be the 21/22nd!!
Did complain to the girl - she said the delivery is 7-10 working days - and she said its quicker to order by phone as the website isn't 'live' - well how am I supposed to know that - I assumed it would be no different ordering online or phoning. I do it with catalogues and its usually delivered next day and for free.
Would buy stamps off Ebay but wary that I'll get dud ones.

Yes - but pretty shoddy service.
I was comparing it to when I rang and ordered and got items within about 2 days.
Lots of places have 'allow 28 days for delivery' - but most deliver a lot quicker and the 28 days is worse case senario. And the Post Office is in the mail business.
A few books of satmps is hardly complicated to send out.
WoulD order with my groceries from Tesco online if I could.
To have to wait so long for stamps in this day and age seems unbelievable.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Well they arrived this mornign - the 18th - with the invoice dated 7th Jan!
Compare this with online order yesterday for candles which arrived this morning!!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

So it was a day later then.
When she said the website is not live - I believe that means that it is not an automated website which will process your order and then tell the wareh0uose what to despatch. They will have someone who will get an email about any orders placed and then have to manually input the order and then send it to the warehouse.

I sympathise. I simply gave up with ordering stamps on line or using the on line stamp printing facility. Both gave me grief, the latter losing me money and unanswered complaints x 2. I'd go to the local post office but that closed a couple of weeks ago.0

Conundrum - if people do more internet shopping because they can't get out - why is sometimes returning stuff so awkward?
Catalogues ok as van comes to door but with Ideal World or QVC you have to get to the P.O. - which makes it not convenient at allGreat opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
If invoiced on 7th (money out of my account on 4th) - why take until 18th to get here - and envelope marked 1st class?Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Isn't it possible to print 'stamps' (actually post-paid labels) direct from the RM Website? No delay at all that way, and you can buy as and when you need to.0

Yep do it all the time. Works really well although would recommend buying some sticky backed paper to go with it to make it even easier. Its called SmartStamp.0
