ESA Reinstated

Hi, i just had my decision from my medical overturned without needing an appeal.

I have had a letter saying that my ESA is going to be reinstated, But it didn't say how long it would take.

How long does it usually take and do they have to back date it?

You will recieve all backdated monies owing less what you've recieved in the meantime (JSA or ESA assessment rate if applicable).

As for the time it takes it varies from area to area. If you've not heard within 2 weeks complain to your MP and it will come through (is what I had to do).

EDIT: Just realised you didn't have to appeal, not sure if my advice is correct, sorry.
  • well i got the letter confirming the appeal three weeks ago but then i got a letter this week saying they had overturned the decision, i think you are meant to recieve payments as soon as the appeal is confirmed.

Or you could just make a simple phone call rather than overreacting?

OP, call the BDC, the number will be on your letter. They will be able to look at your claim and tell you what is happening.
    Gone ... or have I?

    ok, thanks.
  • I definitely agree with the advice from DMG24 to call your Benefit Delivery Centre,
These people have all your information to hand and can answer any query you might have.

    Best of luck :)

Seeing as I did call once a week for a month after I had a successful appeal I don't call that an over reaction.
