Hi,
Have been using mse for a few years for advice but rarely post now i need input as can't find answer. Thanks in advance.
We are wanting to redo & open up our kitchen. We have a single storey extension put in by previous owners. We want to knock a wall down between kitchen & utility room to make the kitchen bigger, is it possible to redirect the soilstack? If so any idea about cost? At the moment it is in the middle of the kitchen. Also can i redirect the waste from the bathroom sink/bath into the soilstack.
Thanks Juliex

If the soil stack is plastic, then yes, it is usually easy enough to redirect. It is just a matter of selecting the correct bends. Also, it is easy enough to alter the sink and bath wastes as well, just so long as you still have enough fall to keep the water/ waste products moving. It is not really feasible to give specific advice without seeing the pipe work concerned. If you do not intend to do the work yourselves, then the person doing the quote will be able to tell you how they propose to do the modifications or indeed, if what you want to do, is actually possible.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
You have not said where you wish to redirect it to ! If your proposal is to get the pipe to a different location at it's foot you would appear to be looking to alter the below ground drainage to give a connection at the revised drop position. Perfectly possible subject to the existing drainage layout permitting. No problems connecting the sink and lb wastes to the soil drop. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian!
