My current Nokia's microphone has packed in and I need a cheap Nokia to cover me until I get my upgrade.
I am on Vofafone.
My question is; can I buy a cheap Nokia phone (payg) that comes with top up (normally £10) and give the top up to someone who uses payg or is it tied to the phone you buy?

You can put the PAYG SIM in any phone that isn't locked to a different network and it will work. It will have its own number though rather than being just a top up.
The operator usually sends a couple of text messages that set up MMS and WAP for that phone should you want to use them.0 -
Ah OK. So what you are saying is the top up will be tied to the new SIM card? I can't get it transferred to another SIM card?0

Haha, you should get a Nokia 3310, be old school.
I know it is not a Nokia but http://phone-shop.tesco.com/great-deals/pay-as-you-go-mobile-phones/209-3591-o2-samsung-e2121.aspx is a great deal, also change to 02 it is much better.0 -
Vodafone (traditionally) had the best coverage on the West Coast of Scotland and in our dingly dell coverage on the other networks can be non existat (orange in particular).
If I got a Samsung can I just whip my SIM card out and plug it in to keep all contacts sorted (ie NO hassle). This is the major thing that worries about changing brands.0 -
Ah ok, http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobi...t_payasyoutalk
Try that link, the phones are cheap and are all Vodafone so you can "whip" your old sim card in it no problem.0 -
I've bought a couple of PAYG phones that came with some usage credit and each time that was already on the SIM that came with it rather than some separate scratch off topup card.Ah OK. I doubt that the operator would transfer it as the handset will be subsidised and they hope to get that subsidy back by the buyer using it.0 -
Panic over the microphone is now working again 100%. Folk can hear me.
Two days of me sgouting dwon th phone to ne effect. This happened before and taking the battery out normally sorted it but didn't this tme.
I think it is going to be one of those annoying faults that I can't put my finger on......grrr.
Thanks all for the input and suggestions.0
