Yay! That's great news, and I bet it feels a bit more real now! :j
What venue did you go for in the end? Was it you who was having problems with Brewery v. Stately Home, or am I confusing you with someone else?!

Yes that was me.... and guess what we didn't go for either of them.:rotfl:(though am sure OH heart is still at the brewery). We went for another statley home - Bradbourne House Kent!!
Am so excited!!! As you say it actually seems real now.0 -

Probably a good idea to not go for either tbh - going for a third option means no-one feels that they have won or lost, IYSWIM!
We saw a venue yesterday and are seeing another tomorrow, so will let you know how it goes. It's looking like 1st September 2012 at the mo, and we have a provisional booking with the one we saw yesterday. I kind of feel like I'm in limbo as I can't plan or book anything else until the venue is sorted, so I'm hoping it'll all be done by the end of this month...
What a gorgeous place Bradbourne House is - you're so lucky!

I think I agree it was a good thing we didn't end up with either - though mine was of course much nicer than his. :rotfl:
Oh must stop that - we have a venue now we bith agree on so thats the main thing.
How exciting hope you find your venue soon. It does seem like I can get moving now on all the planning properly. Excited now, I'll be panicking tomorrow and the sheer amount still to do!!
Can I be nosey and ask what venues you are considering (which one have you provisinally booked)?0 -

LOL! If ever there were a forum board where being nosey is not only permitted but positively encouraged, it's this one!
We looked at The Compass Inn, which is in Tormarton (a few miles north of Bath). It has quite a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of space for all of us, including a fair amount of outside space. The wedding co-ordinator was lovely, and they're really relaxed about what we can do - we can even keep the provisional date until someone else wants to book it, and then we still get first refusal. It's not perfect - the garden is basically just a lawn with plants round the edge so nothing spectacular, plus it's next to an A road. Some of the decor is not what we'd ideally choose (what IS it with pub carpets????). However, it's very reasonably priced, the hire cost including accomodation and breakfast for us two, a toastmaster, hire of cake stand and knife, and exclusive use of all the rooms we need and the garden, but not the bar and other areas (which doesn't worry me too much as our guests will basically fill up the place anyway
) I quite like it, but H2B isn't sure. I admit if we had a larger budget we wouldn't choose it, but it's very good value for money and the people are lovely. And it's not exactly an ugly venue, either!
Tomorrow we're going to see the Mansion House, which is the Lord Mayor of Bristol's official residence. A lot grander but still a very reasonable price. We wouldn't be able to use that venue for the evening party though, just for the ceremony and meal. They will hire it out for evenings, but it's more of a 'sherry and canapes' type of place, IYSWIM! So we'd then have to find an evening venue as well.
Getting quite excited now! I really want to start a September 2012 thread but don't think I should until a deposit has been paid and a date firmly set!

I was there yesterday for their wedding fayre! It is a lovely place.
Hey we were there too - may have seen you there.
Were you there when the alarm went off?
Did you like the food? Very yummy I thought.
Sorry if I am babbling - I am just so excited to have somewhere booked.

We were there from about 12:30-1. We didn't stay very long as I actually was only there in order to prove to my other half that we were still looking at venues when actually I had already fallen in love with a venue last weekend...! He had wanted us to go away and be rational about it and make sure we had exhausted all avenues so that I didn't book it and then turn around and find somewhere else. He's quite practical
It's a lovely venue though, the rooms are fab!! Didn't try any of the food as all we were offered were mussel canapes at the time and none of us were in the mood for them! Sharon seems lovely.
After we left there we went and booked the one we both had instantly liked which was St Augustine's Priory in Bilsington Priory Estate in Ashford.0 -

Oh we looked at that too - its beautiful/stunning. I loved so many venues.
Your Oh sounds like mine - far too practical He he - but hey good in a way. otherwise I'd be having horses and carriages and the works.
Think its important to follow your heart though - its great when you both love somewhere!!
So what date have you gone for (sorry if you said).
Hope you are as insanely excited as I am. :rotfl:0
