Flight Ticket Purchased....but don't want to fly.

Can someone give me advice on my predicament.
I have £700 of BAA vouchers which I overlooked & expire the end of this month. I have booked a day trip flight, plan to buy an IPAD from Dixons travel at Stansted.
Once through security & made my purchase...do I still need to take the flight?
I would have hand luggage only & I would give plenty of notice to the gate to prevent any inconveniences.
If so, would Cutoms confiscatate my purchase as I did not leave the UK?
Any help/advice or what you would do.. would be much apreciated...

I can't see how they can make you fly.
I shouldn't think customs would care too much as you'll have paid full VAT on the ipad. Is an ipad much cheaper at the airport? These days electronics at the airport seem to be only a few quid cheaper, not like the days when Dixons gave you the equivalent of the VAT off.0 -
Maybe not, if any, cheaper but the vouchers are for BAA so would have to be used at an airport. Seems a good way to get rid of £700 before they expire.
As for the original question, sorry not sure if you would have to fly or not, sorry.
You have obviously planned this well Nobby but you can ensure Dixons will have what you want in stock by reserving it from their website HERE0 -

Don't see why they would - you are not buying duty free as you are not (presumably) leaving the EU.
But why not go on the flight and have a nice day out as well?:D0 -
Just a warning, particularly as it happened at Stansted. Having purchased goods, not tobacco or alcohol, in the so called duty free area of the airport, my flight was cancelled as the CAA refused to certify the aircraft was fit to fly. We were required to return all purchases and get refunds before we were allowed to pass back to landside. Otherwise there could be a hundred people a day going through, buying something and then deciding not to fly. Also check that Dixons will be happy to take total payment in BAA vouchers, not much good if they say they will only take 50% or even less!0

Book a fully-flexible refundable ticket and you can even get a refund for it when you decide not to fly.0
