Boston Hotel

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good budget hotel in Boston?

Ideally after somewhere centrally located.

Thanks

We stayed there a couple of years ago. Very friendly staff & great location - ~ 10 mins walk to city centre, underground less than 5 mins away. www midtownhotel com TBH don't know how much it cost as we booked it via a travel agent & they just gave us the final £ price (for everything inc flights etc.) but I don't think it would be that expensive as it had the feel of a 2 or 3 * hotel.

There was a great diner couple of blocks up from the hotel where we had breakfast a couple of time & a same day service laundry just round the corner.

If we're ever back in Boston they'd be our first choice.

N.B. if you're staying for a few days and going sightseeing have you thought of getting a City Pass - www citypass com / boston

We've bought one for Boston, NY & SF & saved cash every time (& in some places you get to jump the queue).

Hope you have a great time.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know the best sites to book a Boston hotel? Use hotel conxions for NYC but they don't seem to do Boston..

"Good", "budget" and "centrally located" aren't phrases which are generally used together with Boston hotels.

I go to Boston reguarly with work and the prices can be very variable depending on the season and what is happening in town. If you are going in the next month or so then you can get some good deals as you need to be hardy to go to Boston in the winter so hotels are fairly quiet. In the summer and autumn/fall prices rocket as Boston is a big convention centre.

One suggestion is the Hilton Financial District. Don't be put off by the name. Boston's financial district is tiny and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the waterfront and Faneuil Hall (Boston's equivalent of Covent Garden). You can get some cheap deals on weekends when all of the bankers and lawyers go home. Similary you can get good weekend deals on the convention hotels around Copley Square and the Prudential Center out of season.

Priceline is very good for Boston, although as Doshwaster notes when conventions are on it can be difficult to get any good deals. Have a look at www.betterbidding.com to get an idea of other wins people have had. I have stayed at the Radisson, the Marriott, the Westin and the Taj and would recommend any of them (although the latter two will probably not be available for a budget price!).
    Gone ... or have I?

I, too, would recommend using Priceline for Boston. We used it when we went at Easter 2009. Sorry I can't remember the name of the hotel but it was a 4* and it was a very good price. As dmg24 said take a look at Betterbidding. There loads of winning bids shown for Boston.

The centre of Boston, especially around Qunicy Market and along the Freedom trail is mainly fake touristy Irish bars. Boylston for more upmarket/trendy bars, the North End for Italian restaurants. For my money the best bars are on the other side of the river in Cambridge. Take the Red Line on the T to Harvard Square where there are loads of places.
