Heard so much from "Rumour Control" not sure what to believe

DH has done almost half his RAF career (he is signed to do 22years due to trade) and was due a posting this year.
Poster has come back saying there is nothing for him and has extended him for a year and then will have a look at see if anything has come available -- - but if nothing does then what?

I was informed today that due to aircraft frame changes and certain squadrons moving to different bases that there is likely to be reduandcies in September and approx 18months salary as lump sum.

Does anyone else know any more details or is this just another juicer rumour that is going around?

When he does eventually come out into civvi street there will be nothing for him - his trade (apart from certain places in the USA) doesn't really exist in this country and his old trade of driving is definately not going to pay the bills and my wage would not support us for him to go back to uni and follow his heart in architecture - and something work are not prepared to allow him to whilst he is still serving.

He's toying with the idea and I'm sold already as after being attached to the military for my entire life - I'm getting a little sick of it.

No good gen from me, but if DH is not already on the unofficial RAF rumour site - https://www.e-goat.co.uk - then it may be worth having a look there - threads on SDSR, which is driving the possible redundancies, and station-specific areas.

Just one warning - it is a bit "crew-room" in places, so if you go there, be prepared to close eyes and mutter at times
