Email Virus Maybe

Hi I have a Sister who is even worse on the computer than i am and thats saying something. I went to check my email and there was a message from her email address but it was not from her if you know what i mean, so i am assuming that she has a virus in her hotmail so i phoned my other sister and asked her to check her email and she has had the same email as i have, she has just moved house so she is not got a telephone line connected and no access to the interweb at home, but she does use the computer in her work. how can she get rid of this virus what steps does she need to take any help so i can pass it on to her.
Thank you in advance

  • Probably someone guessed or watched her put in her Hotmail address password. Get her to change the password asap (better still if she has no access either you or other sis doit for her temporarily and then when she has access again change it again , use difficult to guess passwords too). Not likel to be a virus since she has not able to use her pc.

It is probably not a virus just an open connection scanner using Hotmail's systems.

    1. Change password on Hotmail (just to be safe)
    2. Never use the remember my password button when signing into Hotmail.
    3. Always open Hotmail in a browser window of it's own and always close the browser window when finnished to close the connection.

This should solve the problem, everyone (including me) who I have given this advice too has not had the problem since.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.
