My wife turned 60 on New years eve 2010,but because of the new pension regulations her official state Pension start date is in Sept 2011.
So she cant get a bus pass or winter fuel allowance until then. But she can get free perscriptions for being over 60 and the Odeon cinema does reduced tickets for over 60,s as well, and her local council gives free membership to sports centre for over 60,s ,what else can she benefit from..as life is getting confusing.

Are you younger than your wife? If not, then are you not already getting the £250 WF allowance?

In Scotland you still get your bus pass at age 60, not at pension age. Sister was 60 on 3rd January, doesn't get pension yet, but has got bus pass.
