BBC iplayer on your TV

Looking online I can see "sinking the laconia" online available on iplayer in the films section.

When I connect to iplayer on the TV, some of the other films are available but not all, including sinking the laconia.

Also Antiques roadshow series 2 ep 10 is available online
first broadcast jan 14 avail till Jan 21
But not yet available on the TV iplayer.

Anyone know why this is?

    I have noticed this too.

    When I try to access iplayer via either the PS3 or my Virgin box, no films are available at all.

    I think it may have something to do with the distribution or licencing rights for films.

    Thier are ways to get around this but I am not sure if I am able to discuss them here.

    However, just connecting your computer to your TV with an HDMI cable will work, albeit a cumbersome method.

    When I just had freeview I couldn't see iplayer.

    I have a laptop and I opened another thread on this site on how to connect a laptop to a tv, and it was a lot harder than simply connecting a cable from the laptop to the tv, if you don't have the correct outputs / inputs etc. Most will probably need a convertor that converts the output signal into one that is displayed on the tv.

    That is as far as I got, there is a big difference in price between a couple of quid for a cable, and about £50 - £100 for a convertor.

    That's because iPlayer is not available on Freeview-it's only on Freesat (or online obviously).
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    iPlayer is available on most Freeview HD boxes.

    it seems to be different on various Iplayer formats, maybe the people responsible for each one don't bother uploading the same shows to the various servers.
    At this time I have 3 different ways to connect to BBCIplayer
    Online via the Internet
    Online via PS3 network
    Cable TV via virginmedia
    They all have different listings available, can find some shows and even complete series on some, but not others - I mainly watch via the PS3 as its more user friendly.

    ITV player, and 4OD (which I can get online through net and PS3) have different shows on too
