Help - Stained/Dirty Ebay Item

Hi, I wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I recently won an outfit for my daughter from ebay, the listing said the item was in excellent condition as it had only had one weeks wear whilst on holiday. Anyhow the item has arrived and from the label, etc I can see that it is pretty new; however, all up the front is stained/marked with black mottled type marks. I emailed the seller and told them I had received the outfit and informed them about the marks and they replied back with no apology and said perhaps it was due to their packaging and could I leave some feedback. I said I wanted to wash the outfit to see if the marks came out before I left their feedback but I'm not sure what to do. I haven't attempted to wash the item yet as I wanted to attempt to remove the marks in proper daylight so I could see what I was doing and fair enough, they may come out but what if they don't ? I'm not sure how to proceed with this one, I guess I probably need to wash it first but I just wondered where I stood if the marks don't come out, thanks

  • with textiles if they have been left anywhere damp etc you start getting black/dark spore marks on fabric

it could be that, if it is they dont normally come out...

Do not wash the item. You need to contact seller and request refund.

If no luck here open a case with ebay 'item not as described'. They will ask you to post the item back to seller (get recorded delivery which shows proof of postage and delivery).

    Good luck:o

I have a cheap Primark jumper. I have washed it and the same has happened. That won't help you much, but it may have happened in the wash.

I recently had that problem with an old silk skirt which didn't fit me any more and wanted to sell on eBay. I got it dry cleaned and it was as good as new. But I did that BEFORE selling it.
  • thank you for the advice, I really want the item so I'm reluctant to open a not as described dispute but then I don't want to be left with something which I can't get the marks out of. I was a bit taken aback by the sellers attitude, no apology combined with 'leave my feedback' comment, but then based on their feedback it's a 100% positive. My mum is great at stain removal so I may seek her advice, it was an expensive outfit and I really don't want to be out of pocket.

Get a refund, send it back, tell the seller to wash it, if the stains come out you will rebuy it. The onus is on them then.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

you still have plenty of time to wash it and if it doesn't work to send it back
hope it works out for you, and don't have to part with you outfit.:)
