I've stayed at the Betania, it's a small hotel & so are the rooms but the staff are nice and it's in a great location opposite the beach

The train from malaga airport stops at benelmadina possibly cheaper than taxi!?

There are lots of budget hotels of good quality around Fuengerola (?) Malaga Torremolinos Benalmadens and with air fares so cheap it really is a no brainer.

But wait! We went last March and it poured for 8 days solid, sun came out as we were on the way to the Airport on our last day!
