my daughter claims housing benifit as she works 16 hours and has childcare cost aswell,november2009 last year we were never away from the city council sorting out her claim, taking everything they asked for down to prove her income, child care ect,the claim was sorted and we were happy with the outcome,we had done all the appeals we had to do in writing and was given the housing benifit, but to our shock when she received a letter november 2010,thay r now saying they had done it wrong and her claim was reviewed back till april 2009 which they r now saying she owes the benefit to them which is a lot of money over the time, anyway we have been back and forth and appealed over and over but we keep getting different reviewed benefit letters from them we dont have a clue which one to go on,they r all different and when we go down to the housing benefit office they juat say if we r not happy appeal, but we have done this and we r not getting anywhere as we dont understand what is going on,who can we get or see to sort the claim out once and for all,we r going round in circles and now my daughter is in dept and hasnt a clue what benefit she,s entitled to,please help thanks.

its nothing to worry about, they will have to reassess using all the original information and then she will not be in arrears. I am self emplyed and while they were dealing with my claim i racked up £1000 in rent arrears. i had possesion orders and so much stress. its now all sorted out and a weight of my mind.
challenge them again and take with you all the original information and they will have no choice but to backdate. why should they punish her with their mistake?0 -
