Internet Gateway - Advice Needed!

Hi guys,
Looking for a bit of technical help in relation to my laptop's wireless internet connection. It'ds working fine, but I've noticed an entry in my Network Connections page which I don;t recall seeing previously and would appreciate some advice on whether it's supposed to be there.
I run regular spyware and anti-virus scans using a combination of SpyBot, AdAware, Microsoft Anti-Spyware and AVG Anti-Virus. None of these seem to highlight it as a problem, but like I say, it isn;t anything I've seen before.
Here's a snapshot of my Network Connections box whilst connected:

The thing that concerns me is the Internet Gateway entry. I connect directly to the internet through a router and have never set up an Internet Gateway. If I disable my wireless connection, the Internet Gateway icon disappears. When I'm connected, if I open the Properties for the IG, I get a box (shown in picture above) telling me it's been connected for 13458 days!
I've heard in the past of other people's PCs being hacked and used as 'routers' for malicious internet traffic. I know I'm probably being paranoid, but I'm concerned this may be the case.
Can anyone let me know if I should be worried about this? Cheers!

Thanks for the link, I have the same Linksys router as Sweetchuck and have noticed that the Internet Gateway icon 'sometimes' appears in my network connections. I'm about to reboot after carrying out the procedure in the link . . . here goes !

How did you get on with this procedure? Has the IG disappeared? Any problems?

No problems at all, everything seems to be running just fine several hours later.
