Not sure why you ar eposting as you seem to have answered your own question. I would have done exactly as you have suggested. I can't think of any other way.

Use a drain connector as seen here

Other option is to use a rubber joint with jubilee clips
As the pipe is set into the floor i presume you will be cutting it back to allow for a close coupled set, Old pans tend to have the soil pipe a foot from the wallHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. i dont bother digging any holes. just cut off at ground level (or nearly).
before angle grinders, we used to used hammer and a chisel. nerve wracking work.
one wrong move and the whole thing broke, in the wrong places.Get some gorm.0 -
dont forget to stick a load of newspaper down the hole before you start. tie some string to it just in case.
then you can pull it all out, along with any debris.Get some gorm.0 -
Hi Andy, yes the clay to plastic adaptor is what you need not the rubber thing in the first link as the smell gets through. Speak to our suppliers 0121 311 2666 mention docmatt and you will get one of those next day for a tenner all in0

Utter rubish, If they leak then they would not be BBA approved
Both can be bought by non-trade for less than a tenner at B&QHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
The jubilee clip clay to plastic adaptor can be tightened dead tight which is why I prefer them.
We'll agree to disagree
You will never get a Fernco joint to pass a drain test, Have had plently of experience with Edinburgh Council and we will always remove and bung/bag
Overtightening them usually strips the jubilee or cracks the pipeHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
