First Car Insurance - ASDA Any Good?

Having looked around for insurance quotes, ASDA Online Exclusive seem to be offering the best deal at £3,450 per year, however they have terrible reviews. Any experiences or recommendations? £3,500 is my absolute limit for this really (I'd previously budgeted for £3,000, but that just doesn't seem possible anymore). Thanks.

I wouldn't worry. For the first year or two, you may as well buy on price to be legal. Usually the excess is so large, and the rise in subsequent premium precludes making any claims anyway, so I wouldn't worry about customer service. Third party claims can deal with Asda themselves, so that won't affect you either.

Can u add an experienced named driver to get the cost down?
Unbeleivable that a car worth about £1500 should cost so much in insurance!:(
  • Asda Online exclusive policy is exactly that, everything is done online.. any changes or amendents is also done one line ..........

Its great to save money, as long as you dont expect to call them, it's hard to get through......in the c/centre I work for we get alot of calls from p/h that would like to speak to someone, yet we cant help them.

    Hi,

I've had insurance through Asda for couple of years and I never had any problems. I did apply online but not 100% sure. I never had to claim but I did call them a few times to speak to customer servie and its was fine.

When I used them, their insurance was underwritten by Norwich Union. Not sure if its still the same.

It's not about the value of the car.
If you knock someone over it could cost millions and it doesn't matter what type of car you have.

This is the "third party" section i.e. if you do damage to someone or something else.

When Gary Hart crashed his car onto a train track and de-railed a train the costs were about £50million (there are varying reports but it certainly was a staggeringly large amount of money).
  • No, no, no!
AVOID Asda at all costs. Just search for "Asda Online Exclusive Reviews" and you'll see what I mean!

I was misled by their "cooling off period", whereas just about every other insurer or indeed financial product will count the start of the 14 day cooling off period as the first day using the product, they do not consider you to still be in the cooling off period once cover commences.

They are currently threatening me with a £75 charge as I have cancelled after being with them for 10 days.

They are only available by email and the whole process is taking forever. Please don't put yourself through the stress and go with someone else!
