Can you advise re reclaiming firms?

I know I should be able to do it myself and there is a lot of helpful info/ templates etc available.
But for personal reasons I really do not feel up to doing this myself.
There are lots of firms specialising in reclaiming and I know they will take a fee. But how to find one that is trustworthy and does not charge an extortionate amount?
thanks

Just send a letter to the provider saying you think it was missold to you. They may pay up and you will save a considerable amount.
If not then telephone FOS and ask them if they can help you to complete the form. They will do it over the telephone, pop it into the post and then you sign it and send it back.

do you not have a parent/sibling/son/daughter/friend/spouse who would do it for you? it really would be as simple as adding your details to the letters, posting them and waiting. The most popular CMC firms (of which I would presume are seen as the most reliable) WILL charge you upto 40%. with the average PPI refund upto £4-5k your talking upto £1600-£2000 just to let them write a letter on your behalf.
Really do consider doing it yourself/asking someone else to do it for you. If you would like someone else to have the ability to do it for you completely (i.e if the bank wish to contact you, they contact them on you behalf) you will need to enclose a letter of authority in the letter. This would just need to have a declaration that you authorise *that person* to act on your behalf with regards to the PPI claim, their details and your signature.

Oh dear, I do see your point both of you. And 40% is an awful lot. But I feel so overwhlemed just the thought of it ( an illness response to many things, especially form filling) that I know that despite meaning to I will prevaricate until it is too late.
And I know that the company SWIFT will not help as they are so very difficult to deal with.
I don't have anyone in my family or friends as Magpie suggests so I'll see if someone at the CAB would do it for me. If I can then MAKE myself go there

I also have to complain to both my insurance broker :RIAS AND my insurer: fortis. I posted on the house insurance board to see if the same sort of rules apply and if there are any templates but have not received a reply. I don't supppose you know do you?
thanks for your help.Stop looking for answers....

A complaint doesn't have to be war and peace. It can be as little as a couple of lines depending on the reasons you think it was mis-sold. Template letters have a lower success rate than personalised complaints. Most claims companies use template letters (the same ones you can get for free). A claims company is not adding value most of the time. Especially if you use one that the financial firm knows is dodgy and will go out of their way to try and refuse your complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I agree with the others here Ksh123.
But yes the CAB should be able to help you through this too.
And remember we are here to help too, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"
