Avaliable only if you are renting
not as i read it you have to recieve either some sort of CTB or LHA. as LHA isnt applicable and may be eligable to CTB if there is a short fall, DHP maybe awarded at the discretion of the LA.
see introduction no 20 http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dhpguide.pdf0 -

I smoked for 30+ years.
5 years ago this month, the wife and I stopped (patches). It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I keep shifts (days/nights) and I thought my night shift would be hell without a ciggie - it wasn't. Every time I wanted a fag, I had a carrot stick instead. Between us, we must have been smoking at least 40 per day - that's a staggering £310 (at £5 per packet) per 31 day month.
If you are as skint as you say you are - you can do this. Lack of funds was one of the reasons we gave up - we have never looked back (should have done it years ago).0 -
Have a look at the mortgage help page on direct.gov website for advice on the mortgage problem.
Can you increase your hours or take a part time job, sell stuff on ebay, rent a room out to a lodger?0 -
when i wentg to job centre was told not entitled to any benefits adn fighting esa/dla as had not paid enough ni like your hubby.
the advisor said to me you;d be better off handing keys in and rentiong so unfortunatley that is what we are doing.
we have stopped paying our mortgage as cant afford it hubby only works 3 days per week and i have been on sick since feb 2010. so no pay.
we are just waiting to be repossed but enrolled on council list last week so are waiting for the day to come.
sorry but it is a stupid styem we are in can;t get help with mortgage as have no capital, cant sell to one of thse rent back so can only repossess and move to council housing.
we are having to start again in our forties.
oh well.
it is about expecting the inevitable and trying to stay postive for the kids.
your whole famil ylife is changing we have downsized spending and have debts due to a post office closure and poor business so will probalbly go bankrupt next.
how did you do the bankrupcy if you don;t mind me asking.0 -
Morledge142 - you'd be better off speaking to Shelter and/or CAB about your financial problems rather than relying on a comment made by a JCP member of staff. The Shelter website has a section for homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage, including how to deal with arrears and the govt schemes that are in place to prevent repossession.0

thanks jowo
will look at shelter site but have explored all goverment things, as mentioned dont qualify as no capital in property amd jave extra secured loan against it.
so cant do a rent back scheme either.
thanks again.0 -
hi moreledge142
the bankruptcy was really easy, but a lot of bloody forms (well 1 but you have to make 3 copies) make an appointment at your local maj court for a bankruptcy they usually have certain days for these mine took 8 weeks as there was a waiting list. and then save up i know it sound so stupid and it makes me laugh that i had to save up to go bankrupt but it cost £510.00 each, and we both had to do it as was told they would just go after my husband if only i went bankrupt due to the situation we were in. you just go through your forms with a court official then go in with the maj judge he reads it and decides if you can go bankrupts or not. then you have a phone appointment with a official receiver later in the day and other later in the week, so quite easy. and as much as i didnt want to do it, was quite possibly the best thing i ever did, and it wipes of your council tax for the rest of the financial year so if you can wait till after april 5th you will get a year with no council tax (and that is something they dont tell you, i just noticed they wernt taking it out of bank, so phoned up worried it was a mistake and i was going to get a hugh bill and they just said no your a bankrupt so no council tax till next year, i said woohoo because mine is £170.00 a month)
sorry so long - i do tend to go a bit.
hope it helps

im getting a few extra hours at work, but there not to willing to give me the full 5 days as i suffer from S.A.D so im doing my normal 3 full days and 2 half days at the moment, but that only takes me up to 40 hours so not ground braking, and its in my contract that i am not allowed to work anywhere else as they feel this would affect my dedication, but i have got a £50 a month job doing my brothers books for his company, as for a lodger i dont think i would even cope, would have some sort of breakdown, and ebay is currently my best friend im listing things all the time and using the free one on facebook called market place.
i am off to the job centre tomorrow to see what they have to say as i havnt actually been my self always been my husband, and to the coucil to do the ctb and ask about a dhp also going to go to citizens advise and se if they can shed some light on things for my and ive made an appointment to see my local mp next friday to see what help he can offer (that was my mums idea, im not sure what he can do but worth a try) im being as proactive as possible so as to stop my losing my marbles
