MAC help needed - cant connect to NAS (LaCie)

I think the problem here is that the drive isn't mounted.
Go to finder and have a look in the "Shared" section (or else click on your computer at the top of the left hand column and have a look at the network devices). If you can see the drive you can then open in and it should mount automatically. If will probably unmount when you shut down so to re mount automatically I believe you can make a alias of the mounted drive and make this a start up item (I haven't tried this myself though).0
